This oriental silk purse is much too fancy for my family to have ever owned but the family photo is from the 1920's, my Mom on the right, her sister on the left and their Grandmother holding them. I thought the "shapes" were similar :>) LOL

This is my Mom, her Aunt and sister probably around 1925 - 1927 in collage on a sweet purse photo from the same era. I have tried to repeat themes to produce an artistically pleasing combination but I wish I was a little more savvy about using photo shop! Check out my new set for these old photos that I just started in 2008 :>)

My Mom's 85th birthday is coming up in a few days. I have lots of 1920's era old purses and not so many family photos of the era to go with them. So I will add a few here, just the purses. But since my Mom is only interested in people photography, I will eventually add some of those kind of shots as well!

Here are some of my cousins from Maine who were the "twinkle" in their Dad's eye when he was a soldier in Korea: www.flickr.com/photos/catchesthelight/3071947540 These families are grieving right now from the loss of a 21 year old son who died in his sleep 11/7/08 :>( And now the loss of one of my female "cousins" (pictured here) from cancer 2/1/13 :>(

I tried to upload these photos today in order but the computer changed the order - see the 1894 purse (previous) that goes with the 1895 family photo (after). This one is to remind you that the purses aren't mine and they came from calendar pages that I hand photographed each one whether in collage or not (before I had a scanner)

This is my Mom's next younger sister. My Mom was the oldest of 6 siblings: 3 girls, 3 boys of which she and the two youngest, boys, are still living. My Aunt graduated from Hartford High School in 1950 and she and my Uncle were married sometime soon after that. She has since passed on but I thought their wedding photo with her full train a good way to highlight the white beaded and jeweled evening purse with mirrored clasp :>)
